Montofoli Assyrtiko 2023
For the vintage of 2023 we “took a leap” and created dry versions of the varieties grown on the estate from which we historically produce dessert wines. Our old vines of Assyrtiko and Grenache blanc, are the perfect varieties to produce crisp, “sunny”, fresh Aegean whites. We are very proud to present to you our limited production of 1.800 bottles of Montofoli Assyrtiko!
Grape Variety: 80% Assyrtiko, 15% Aidani, 5% Athiri
Vineyard: Karystos, South Evia
Wine Color: White
Wine Style: Still, Dry
Bottle Size: 750ml
Alcohol by Volume: 12,5% vol
Vinification: White vinification in stainless steel tanks. A small part of the wine undergoes 6 months “sur lies” in French Oak Barrels.
Tasting notes: Bright yellow clear colour, citrus fruit on the nose and mineral character. High acidity and saltiness in the mouth followed by a crisp and long aftertaste.
Serving and Food Pairing: Enjoy between 12 °C or 14 °C. Pairs well with grilled fish, seafood, grilled or roast chicken, and the traditional to Karystos goat in lemon sauce.
Ageing: This wine has a good ageing potential and can only gain with time. Drink it in the next 5 years.
